Categories of Membership

comparison of membership typesThe Association’s Membership Guidelines make provision for Individual or Corporate categories of membership with Life and Honorary awarded categories.

All personal membership categories enjoy the same rights and benefits.

Individual
Membership RatesApplication Forms

The RMAA offers four (4) sub-categories of Individual Membership.

  • Professional
  • Student
  • Affiliate
  • Retired

    Professional

    There are three (3) levels of Professional Membership –

    • Associate Member (ARMA),
    • Chartered Member (MRMA) and
    • Fellow (FRMA).

    Criteria is set and reviewed annually and members are invited to submit an application to upgrade their status within the RMAA.

    There are two ways of upgrading your status:

    • Experience Only; or
    • Experience and Qualifications.

    Guidelines as to the requirements for Professional Membership can be found here or by contacting the National Office.

    A person may be admitted as a Professional member who:

    • Meets the criteria within the Professional Status Upgrade Guidelines;
    • Is interested in promoting the objects of the Association, and is working in a related field of Records Management.
  • Post-nominals and voting rights apply at this level of membership.

    The application should be submitted on the Application Form and be accompanied by the annual membership subscription. Please refer to the the current membership fees found here.

    Note: A professional member cannot be a nominee of a corporate membership.

    Student

    A person residing who is enrolled as a full-time student in a RMAA Recognised Records Management or related course may be admitted as a Student member upon application. The application shall be submitted on the Application Form and be accompanied by the annual subscription – demonstration of being a full time student must accompany the application.

    Note: Successful completion of your studies at Certificate 4 level or above will qualify you for advancement to higher levels of RMAA membership.

    No post-nominals or voting rights apply at this level of concessional membership.

    A substantially reduced RMAA annual membership subscription applies for full time students. Student membership for the first year in 2006/2007 will be FREE. Please refer to the the current membership fees found here.

    Affiliate

    A person may be admitted as an Affiliate member who is:

    • interested in promoting the objects of the Association, and is working in a related field of Records Management; or
    • interested in promoting the objects of the Association, is employed full time in the Records Management field but is not qualified to be a Professional Member (Associate Member, Member or Fellow)

    No post-nominals or voting rights apply at this level of membership.

    The application should be submitted on the Application Form and be accompanied by the annual membership subscription. Please refer to the the current membership fees found here.

    Retired or Unemployed

    This level of membership is for those who have held membership in one of the preceding sub-categories, and wish to suspend their full membership whilst still maintaining contact with the Association. Please refer to the the current membership fees found here.

Corporate
Membership RatesApplication Forms

This level of membership is for those organisations, companies or trade suppliers who are working in the industry, interested in developments within the profession, or interested in promoting improved information and records management services.

Each Corporate Membership is entitled to nominees who receive membership benefits whilst in the employ of the corporate membership.

Corporate membership is available to all organisations involved with or interested in Records Management services sector. Current members include State, Commonwealth and Local Government organisations, Archival Institutes, Banks, Accounting Firms, Universities, Private firms, consultants and suppliers.

RMAA membership provides the staff within your organisation the opportunity to develop and maintain their technical knowledge of the industry. RMAA membership allows individuals within organisations to keep abreast of changes in the industry and ensure your organisation is compliant with various Acts, for example the introduction of the Privacy Act, BAS and International Standard on Records Management.

Note: A professional member cannot be a nominee of a corporate membership.

Vendor

This is identical to Corporate membership but offers additional advertising benefits such as free advertising on the RMAA online Product Directory and in the annual Product Directory liftout (May InfoRMAA Quarterly), a free 1/8th page ad in one edition of InfoRMAA Quarterly and a website link to your business on the RMAA website.
