Amanda Cossham will be presenting on Professional development and education – identifying and meeting information needs on Wednesday
Lindisfarne Information Consulting Ltd is an information management consultancy company based in Wellington and Nelson. Amanda and co-director Sarah Welland specialise in developing records and archives management solutions for public and private sector organisations.
Amanda lectures for The Open Polytechnic of New Zealand in information and library studies. Her research interests focus on continuing professional development for records managers and librarians, including interdisciplinary approaches to information management. Information architecture is becoming a passion for her.
Originally qualifying as a librarian 20 years ago, she discovered records management in 2000, and upgraded her postgraduate library studies diploma to a master’s degree (MLIS) at Victoria University of Wellington, by specialising in archives and records. This built upon her experience with indexing, abstracting and cataloguing, and with thesaurus development.
Recent projects have included the development of classification structures and retention and disposal schedules for New Zealand public sector agencies. Lindisfarne worked with Convention Bronze Sponsor SWIM Ltd on the development of Archives New Zealand’s general disposal authority (GDA) covering district health board (DHB) records, published at the beginning of the year. Lindisfarne had particular responsibility for the non-clinical records and a review of recordkeeping practices across the DHBs.
