Marian Hoy will be presenting on Competency Frameworks for Recordkeeping: Their place and potential on Wednesday
Marian Hoy is currently working for the National Archives of Australia on projects relating to training of Australian Government agencies and staff within the Archives. One of these projects involved a review of internal training material leading to the development of a one-day training course on Introduction to Records Management in the Australian Public Service, a practical hands-on workshop on recordkeeping for all new staff.
Another project, in collaboration with colleagues, involves information management capabilities for Australian Government agencies and staff of the National Archives of Australia. Over the last eighteen months Marian has been involved in the review of the recordkeeping components of the Australian Business Services Training Package.
Since joining the Archives in 1983, Marian has also worked in archival description, survey, transfer and appraisal, automated control systems (RecordSearch) and holdings management.
In her professional capacity, Marian chaired a joint committee of the Australian Society of Archivists (ASA) and the RMAA, from 2003-2006, examining issues and trends in recordkeeping competency standards. She is the Education Officer on the RMAA ACT Branch Council and is a member of the Steering Committee of the International Council on Archives, Section on Archival Education. She has published in areas relating to archival control systems, thesauri, training and competency frameworks.
Marian Hoy has a Bachelor of Arts (Honours), a Graduate Diploma in Archives Administration, a Masters in Education Leadership and is currently a candidate for a Doctor of Philosophy in Education, researching professional development in cultural institutions.
