Michael Hoyle will be presenting on Records, Records and Development: the Role of Recordkeeping in Good Governance Strategies in Africa on Monday
Michael Hoyle is the Project Manager and Lead Researcher for the Building Integrity in Public Sector Information Systems project for the London-based International Records Management Trust (IRMT).
He is a New Zealand-born Australian based in Seattle, Washington State, U.S.A. Michael has a Masters degree in Information Management and Systems from Monash University in Australia.
He has been involved in a number of IRMT projects including the Evidence-Based Governance in the Electronic Age project seminar in Johannesburg, South Africa. He was part of a team that worked on an Integrating Recordkeeping Requirements into Financial Management Systems project and, most recently, has undertaken IRMT consultancy work in Sierra Leone, Lesotho, Tanzania and Bangladesh.
Prior to moving to Seattle in 2005, Michael Hoyle was Group Manager, Government Recordkeeping at Archives New Zealand in Wellington. He has also worked in various information management and other roles in several government agencies in Australasia including ten years at Archives New Zealand and six years at the National Archives of Australia.
Professionally, Michael has been a council member (1996 to 1999) of the Archives and Records Association of New Zealand (ARANZ), has published various articles and given numerous presentations at conferences, seminars and training workshops. He has served as Deputy Chair (2000 to 2002) and Chair (2002 to 2004) of the Association of Commonwealth Archivists and Records Managers (ACARM). He held the positions of Secretary General (2002 to 2003) and President (2003 to 2004) of the Pacific Branch of the International Council on Archives (PARBICA).
